Everyone typically assumes that mindfulness meditation is a way to tune out the pressures of the world or even your own mind, however that is the truth. Meditation is neither shutting things out nor off. Actually it is seeing things clearly, by intentionally viewing yourself from a different perspective. Stress is part of life, a major part of being human, it is intrinsic to the human condition. In order not to become a victim we must have a willingness to embrace and work with the core of all meditation practice. A popular way is to envision how mindfulness works is thinking that your mind as like the surface of the ocean. There are always waves present. Sometimes big, sometimes they are small, sometimes they are overwhelming. The waves of the mind are churned up by the winds of stress and change in our lives. Mindfulness Meditation it cannot be attained by misguided attempts to pacify the mind’s natural activity. Mindfulness .Meditation is about knowing something about how our mind works and finding healthy ways to deal with the waves. “You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.” Surf’s Up!
